Ola S1 Pro Reverses at High speed Due To Software Glitch, Senior Citizen Rider Injured

Published Date:

The dark days for Ola just seem to be never ending as another case of an injury caused by their scooter has surfaced over the internet. In a recent incident a buyer claimed that his 65 YR old father received terrible injuries because the scooter due to a glitch traveled in reverse at full speed. The rider banged his head against a pole and suffered a broken arm. This is the third such incident , and has been reported by Pallav Maheshwari on Linkedin.

Pallav spoke on the matter, saying

The software bug in the #olaelectric scooter of going in the reverse mode at full speed has severely injured my father. He was the one who even at the age of 65 is very active and was enthusiastic to use #ola #electricvehicle
Please look at what your #poorlytested scooter has done to him. He was only taking the scooter from outside the house to park inside. He has banged his head on a wall with almost the skull open (with 10 stiches now) and broken his left arm which would have to be operated with 2 plates inserted.

According to him his father was merely parking the scooter , while due to the glitch scooter reversed at full speed , causing his father to be subjected to severe injuries.

Maheshwari told in a media report that he had been facing similar problems from the second day of ownership of the vehicle, however they did not presist the customer did not pay much attention to it. However, Ola Electric recently fixed the vehicle control unit (VCU) recently but they did not fix the software glitches.

Ola announced a massive recall to fix the VCU issues, which primarily addresses the problem of battery drainage in the vehicle. Maheshwari says that he regrets the decision of buying an Ola now.

Another case reported by MALAY Mohapatra over at twitter reported that the scooter glitched  and started reversing at full speed. While doing so the speedometer indicated a speed of about 102KMPh, the rider kept the scooters rear wheel off the ground by tilting it to the side otherwise there could have been catastrophic problems. A customer from Guwahati reported a faulty regeneration system and said it caused an accident while his son was riding.
