Renault has finally taken the wraps off its production-spec Renault Kiger 2021 sub-4metre compact SUV. The SUV is likely to make its way to India in the first quarter of 2021.
The Renault Kiger will compete with the likes of Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and Nissan Magnite.

Exterior
The Renault Kiger 2021 has a sporty front. The Renault badge is prominently displayed in the center of the two-slat chrome grille, flanked by LED daytime running lights with integrated indicators.
LED headlights with three independent LED units are placed on the bumper. The sculpted hood is impressive too. The Kiger receives a floating roof extended at the rear by spoiler. The C-shaped taillights are quite unique.
Additionally, aluminum-finish skid plates, functional roof rails, shark fin antenna, and 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels are other key features.
Interior
Based on the CMFA + platform, on which the Renault Triber is also based, the Renault Kiger 2021 will have a high ground clearance of 205 mm and also a spacious cabin.
The Kiger has distance of 710mm between the front seats and legroom in the second row (222mm) and elbow room (1431mm). Renault India claims these features are the segment-best.

It has a huge, segment-leading 405-liter boot ectended to 879 liters when the second row is folded. The cabin also offers 29 liters of storage space.
Some key features include an 8-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
Furthermore, there’s also a 7-inch multi-layer digital instrument panel, automatic climate control, multi-function steering wheel.
Other prominent features inside include wireless phone charger, hands-free smart access card, PM2.5 air filter, Arkamys 3D sound system with eight speakers and ambient lighting.
Engine and transmission
The Renault Kiger 2021 comes with a 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.0-liter three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol unit.
The 1.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine offers a maximum output of 100PS and a peak torque of 160 Nm. It can be mated to a 5-speed MT or a 5-speed X-Tronic CVT.

On the other hand, the 1.0-liter naturally aspirated petrol unit offers a maximum power of 72PS and a peak torque of 96 Nm.
It offers 5-speed MT and 5-speed AMT options. The Kiger also has multi-sense drive roads: Eco, Normal and Sport.
Price
Renault Kiger may cost between Rs 5 lakh and Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom) in India.
Renault India, which currently sells Kwid, Triber and Duster in the country, will look to increase its sales through Kiger.
Colors
The buyers will get six different color options to choose from: Ice Cool White, Planet Grey, Moonlight Grey, Mahogany Brown, Caspian Blue and Radiant Red with Mystery Black roof. Surprisingly, all the variants will get dual-tone paintjob.
