Tata launched the new concept AVINYA which is a look down the path of how the electric mobility vehicles for Tata are going to shape up in the coming future. The car has been developed following a third gen EV architecture which would funnel into production vehicles by 2025. The car due to its ingenious architecture provides roomy and highly comfortable interiors.
The architecture would help the manufacturer to bring in several offerings based on the same underpinnings with variable battery packs as well as variable ranges based on the offering. Recently The embargo on press releases were lifted and several walk-around videos of the vehicle surfaced over the internet. Here is a video by YouTuber Gagan Chaudhary. We could hardly hear him over the whining of the motor for the butterfly doors but still we tried.
Detailed look
Although the AVINYA has followed a completely new design language, it seems with every panel of its design being unique and special. AVINYA would help Tata gain attention towards its ambitious goals as well as the direction the brand wants to head into. While Tata would still be working on finding more suitable and affordable, solutions for the Indian market.
Side Profile
From the side profile AVINYA looks sleek and sharp while following the same monolithic design language all over the vehicle. Suicide doors that Tata has designed for the vehicle showcases the b pillars to be a part of the vehicle doors, which concept wise are fine but would be hard to put into a production spec vehicle. Because these would be a hazard to vehicle integrity and rigidity and to circumvent that Tata would have to deploy a lot of innovation which would make a production spec variant very expensive. plus There are speakers integrated into the headsets as all the commands in the car would be conducted vocally. And a smell diffuser whose aim is to provide home like wellness in mobility.

The Concept of Software on wheels
With the AVINYA concept, Tata Motors are showcasing how cars are becoming software on wheels. They want the technology to work in the background. Hence you would notice that the AVINYA EV does not get any large infotainment system. Instead, everything is controlled via voice commands as said earlier. Plus this would require a whole change is demand as the Indian consumer doesn’t really want minimalism. He wants the biggest screen possible to sit on the dash and gaze directly into his eyes. We hope these changes soon make into the affordable cars Tata currently has on sale.

New Electric Skateboard Platform
The AVINYA EV isn’t that long but space in the cabin is significantly better, as said in the launch AV as well this is because of The Gen 3 platform which is essentially an electric skateboard platform. As we can see from the pictures, the wheels have been placed on the extreme corners of the vehicle. Because the platform has been developed for electric vehicles from the ground up, there is no transmission tunnel helping the in cabin comfort with a flat floor.
The batteries would be placed beneath the floor, helping with a low centre of gravity necessary for stability in a vehicle. Tata has brought the attention of the whole industry to its bold claims; it would be a delight to witness such vehicles on the Indian roads.
The car is at best a look down the future lane, a look at what the future of mobility would be like, what would be some of the changes you could expect to see in production spec vehicles in the next few years. If EV would be complete change forever it would have to extend driving range of the cars at an affordable price this is the challenge manufacturers should pay heed to . plus the infrastructure for charging should be made omnipresent before vehicles like these ever enter the market.
