Every other day we find new videos over the internet about Drag races in India and different cars from different segments being pitted together. Today we saw a video which pitted two cars from the same segment together Tata Tiago VS the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R.
Engine Specifications
Both the cars were privately owned by the competitors and ready to race, the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R is powered by a 1 litre 3 cylinder engine which produces about 67 bhp and about 90 nm of torque while at the same time the Tata Tiago is powered by a 1.2 litre 3 cylinder engine which produces 72 Bhp @6000 RPM with a peak torque output of 95 NM 3500 RPM . And Wagon R of course is lighter then Tiago. On paper there is no way that the Wagon R can beat the Tiago let’s find out what happened in the race.
The Race
During the race Wagon R gained a couple car lengths on the Tiago as soon as the race started. Then in the second run again the Tiago was given advantage by seating extra passengers into the Wagon R still the Wagon R caught the Tiago and gained a lead. After that both the cars were raced again and the Wagon R still won. The reason for the victory Wagon R had was that Wagon R has a profound power to weight ratio which helps it being a faster car. While the Tiago has a heavier body , plus the driver at the end confirmed that in the previous two runs he drove with windows open ant that’s probably why he lost, on the last run he won though.
Safety precautions
Although the car were owned privately by the participants it’s not advisable to conduct such races on public roads. The danger of there being accidents always looms close. Also if proved as this video once published can ,that the owner was in a pursuit of testing the top speed or trying to do a timed run in case of an accident the insurers might turn hesitant to help.
Be safe and ensure others safety as well first.
