Tata Unveils Ace EV With Bold claims, plans to Revolutionize Commercial vehicle Market

After the recent launch of the AVINYA concept the launch of the Nexon Max around the corner , Tata launched the EV version of its utilitarian commercial truck today. Tata seems to be working day and night to keep its lead in the Ev market intact. The YouTube video of the newly launched Ace brings forward many features that the truck would now come with. Here is a detailed look at what is on offer.

According to Tata this would be the future of commercial vehicles but only time would tell how the Ace would fare in the market. With there being no other product in the market that is commercially viable using EV drive train.

Infotainment System

Tata would provide the ace with an 7’ Inch infotainment system , of course if the vehicle comes in different variants the infotainment would be available on the top variants. Plus to add on to the feature list Tata would also provide this vehicle with rear view camera, Tyre pressure monitoring system and a new generation digital instrument cluster.

0 to 30 kmph in 7 seconds

If this wasn’t enough Tata also projects an 0 to 30 kmph time of about 7 seconds and Ip67 water proofing standards for the battery packs . In the teaser Tata also boasts about best in class grade-ability of 22%. Tata has also provided the vehicle with smart connectivity across all platforms, with navigation, fleet telemtics,vehicle trakcing and Geo fencing.

On the charging front it seems Tata has provided the vehicle with battery regen on braking as well as a fast charging in 105 minutes.

I am delighted today that with the launch of the Ace EV, we are entering a new era of e-cargo mobility. Tata Ace is India’s most successful commercial vehicle ever. It has revolutionized transportation and created millions of successful entrepreneurs over the years. It will further build on this legacy by providing a technologically-advanced, clean and smart mobility solution. I am excited about the electrification of commercial vehicles.”

Battery Pack Specifications, Range

The ACE is the first product powered by the Tata motors EVOGEN powertrain that offers a tremendous range of about 154km’s its profound waterproofing as well as advanced battery cooling system also provide it best in class all weather drive ability. The Ace is powered by a 27Kw (36Hp) motor with a peak torque of about 130NM. To push the idea of EV commercial vehicles further

Tata also talked about signing of strategic memorandum of  understanding with leading E-commerce websites and logistics providers. This would entail delivering 39,000 units of the Ace EV; setting up dedicated Electric Vehicle Support Centres for maximum fleet uptime; deployment of Tata Fleet Edge – the next-gen optimal fleet management solution; and support of Tata UniEVerse, the proven enabling eco-system of relevant Tata Group companies. the price of the EV version of the ACE would be announced once the deliveries start. All these features as well as innovation definitely would have driven the ACE’s price higher than its conventional counterpart. If Tata manages to provide the same features at the previous prices as the conventional Ace it would be a success like no other. higher prices would drive away smaller businesses .
