Tata Motors, the nation’s largest electric car producer and third-largest PV manufacturer, presented a wide variety of vehicles at this year’s Auto Expo, which is one of its main features. 14 cars in total, some of which were a huge surprise to everyone, were displayed by the corporation. The brand’s unveiling of the coupe crossover Currv, which the firm announced will go on sale the following year, was one of the show’s key attractions. The Currv designs were previously shown off by the business, but those were both electric models while this one is expected to include a combustion engine.
One of the most notable features of the exhibited Currv is its exterior styling. Tata’s planned “Digital” design language is on display in the Currv and will be used to the company’s upcoming SUV line. The Creta, Seltos, Grand Vitara, and Urban Cruiser Hyryder are possible competitors for this mid-size SUV. The car on exhibit at the event was a pre-production prototype that is almost finished with development, but there are still some details that might be slightly changed before it is put into production.
The Tata Currv concept’s front was particularly aesthetically pleasing thanks to its carefully sculpted bumper, triangle headlight housings, and full-length LED light bar. The mid-size coupe crossover has sharp shoulder lines, body cladding, and squared-off wheel arches for the side appearance. It sports a notchback-inspired boot and a roofline with a downward slope that is reminiscent of a coupe. The SUV’s rear features a triangular air vent, a full-width light bar, and an angular bumper.
A three-layer dashboard, an angular section at the bottom, and an LED light strip that runs the length of the cabin are all interior design aspects of the Currv concept car. Additionally, it has two separate digital displays: one for the instrument cluster and one for the infotainment system. Between the floating centre console are the temperature control knobs, rotary gear selector, and centre armrest. At the Auto Expo, a redesigned two-spoke steering wheel was also observed in the concept car.
According to the previously described drivetrain possibilities, the company has already shown the Currv idea twice, both times using electric vehicles. It has been rumoured that the corporation will this time around also release an ICE version of this crossover. The newest 1.5-liter T-GDI (Turbo-Gasoline Direct Injection) petrol engine from the firm is expected to power it, according to rumours.
The 1.5-liter T-GDI and 1.2-liter T-GDI petrol engines, which will power the small SUV Nexon, were introduced by the firm at the expo. The business claims that this new 1.5 L engine will be capable of generating a maximum of 170PS at 5000rpm as well as 280Nm of torque at 2000-3500rpm.
The company claims that the minimal weight and rigidity of the all-aluminum frame will boost engine stiffness. For improved performance and fuel economy, it will incorporate a sophisticated combustion system and high-pressure gasoline direct injection technology. It will also come with a variable oil pump, an integrated exhaust manifold in the cylinder head, and dual cam phasing. In addition, the company indicated that it will continue to apply cutting-edge technology to make its engine the best in its class.
