Bengaluru Auto Driver, Woman Clash Over Booking Dispute, 'Stop the Drama'

A controversy between a woman and a Bengaluru auto-rickshaw driver has seen a spate of heated online arguments explode in its wake, this time over the use of ride-hailing apps and the responsibility of passengers as well as drivers.

The controversy began with Pavan Kumar, an auto driver, alleging that a woman had booked his ride on the Ola app but canceled it in favor of a Rapido ride, wasting his time. Kumar was aggrieved, saying that this was what was hurting auto drivers. The woman denied these allegations, saying that she had only checked prices across the apps and hadn't confirmed any booking.
In this conversation, a woman called her father to appeal to him since the auto driver was harassing her, saying: "Dad, this auto driver is harassing me. I did not book his ride. She also showed a weakness on the side of the application, saying: It is the problem with the app, not with me. Stop drama.
Kumar later posted the incident on X (previously Twitter) and tagged in Bengaluru City Police, How proper is it to use rude and obscene words on the driver like this on passengers? After a few pleas, the Bengaluru City Police inquired with Kumar for his number and asked him to forward some more information regarding the incidence.

Another social media user, who she claimed was a friend, also came forward saying that the driver had harassed her by snatching the auto's keys and not letting her leave. She said that confusion arose when there was an auto-booking glitch in the Ola app, which had apparently booked a ride while the woman was checking prices for a ride.
An incident has sparked very deep online discussions about various problems and misunderstandings between the drivers who use ride-hailing apps and passengers, raising demands for improvement in those apps and mutual respect in case of any dispute.
