Bengaluru Autorickshaw Driver Abuses Woman Passenger for Cancelling Ride, Video Goes Viral
An autorickshaw driver in Bengaluru has sparked outrage on social media after being caught on video verbally abusing a woman passenger for cancelling her ride. The woman had booked the ride through an aggregator app, and the driver’s aggressive reaction to the cancellation was captured in a video that quickly went viral.
The video shows the driver grabbing the woman’s phone and shouting at her, saying, “How can you cancel my ride by mistake? Does your father pay for the gas? I waited here for so long, and you just chose to sit in another auto.”
When the woman threatened to report the incident to the police, the driver responded, “Come, let us go to the police. Do you think you can scare me?” He then continued to hurl abusive language and grabbed her phone while recording the altercation. Despite other auto drivers attempting to intervene, the situation escalated, with the driver creating a scene on the road.

The woman also alleged that the driver had slapped her and explained that she had to cancel the ride due to a change in her plans.
As the video circulated widely, social media users expressed outrage and called for strict action against the autorickshaw driver for his inappropriate and aggressive behaviour.
In response, Karnataka’s Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) for traffic and safety, Alok Kumar, took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Such behaviour is unacceptable. A few people like him give the autorickshaw drivers community a bad name. Have informed the concerned to take appropriate action.”
The police have been informed of the incident, and an investigation is expected to follow, with possible disciplinary measures against the autorickshaw driver.
