Bengaluru Cantonment Railway Station: Two Platforms Shut for 92 Days, 44 Trains to Skip Stoppages from September 20
Due to major station redevelopment works at Bengaluru Cantonment (BNC) railway station, partial operations will be in effect from September 20 to December 20, 2024. Platforms 2 and 3 will be non-operational during this period, and as a result, the stoppage of 44 trains at the station has been canceled for the 92-day duration, according to an official release from Southern Railway.
The station upgrade, aimed at improving infrastructure and passenger amenities, will affect several important train services, including those running between Bengaluru, Mysuru, Chennai, Ernakulam, and other major destinations. The affected trains include popular services like the Shatabdi Express, Lalbagh Express, and Kaveri Express.
Some of the trains impacted include:
- Train No. 12028 - KSR Bengaluru - Dr. MGR Chennai Central Shatabdi Express (daily except Tuesday).
- Train No. 12677 - KSR Bengaluru - Ernakulam Express.
- Train No. 12608 - KSR Bengaluru - Dr. MGR Chennai Central Lalbagh Express.

Passengers have been advised to plan their journeys accordingly and check alternate boarding or alighting options during this time. The authorities have assured that steps are being taken to ensure minimal disruption to services during this essential redevelopment.
The Southern Railway has also implemented measures to streamline operations for the remaining platforms at Bengaluru Cantonment and nearby stations to accommodate the surge in passenger movement during this time.
With a number of important trains skipping Bengaluru Cantonment during the three-month period, railway officials have urged passengers to utilize KSR Bengaluru City, SMVT Bengaluru, and Yeshwanthpur stations for alternative travel arrangements.
