BESCOM Online Services to Be Unavailable from October 5 to 7 Due to System Upgrade: Bill Payment and Applications Impacted

Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) has announced the temporary suspension of its online services, including bill payments and application submissions, from October 5 to October 7, 2024. The move comes as BESCOM undertakes an IT system upgrade aimed at improving service quality across multiple regions. Starting from 9 PM on October 4, the services will be halted, with restoration expected by 6 AM on October 7. During this period, consumers will not be able to access any online facilities or make payments at cash counters. BESCOM advises consumers to plan their payments accordingly.

Temporary Service Shutdown for System Upgrade

BESCOM has scheduled an IT system upgrade, resulting in a complete halt of its online services from 9 PM on October 4 to 6 AM on October 7. This includes bill payments, new connection applications, and requests for changes in customer details, such as name or address. The upgrade is part of BESCOM’s ongoing efforts to enhance its infrastructure and service efficiency, with improvements being rolled out gradually across various regions.

Bill Payments and Applications Affected

During the shutdown, consumers in Bangalore and other areas under BESCOM’s jurisdiction, including Chikkaballapur, Kolar, Tumkur, and Davangere, will be unable to make online payments or submit applications for new electricity connections or changes in customer information. Cash counters will also be non-operational during this period. According to BESCOM, regular billing services will resume after 11 AM on October 5, and online services are expected to be fully functional again by October 7.

Aimed at Enhancing Service Quality

The planned system upgrade is part of BESCOM’s continuous efforts to improve service delivery. Earlier this year, BESCOM successfully upgraded its Oracle CC&B system from version 2.3 to 2.8, enhancing various aspects of its billing and customer service systems. Phase-2 of the upgrade will include improvements to systems like EAM, GIS, and Mobile Applications, further ensuring a smoother and more efficient experience for consumers once the changes are implemented.

Affected Regions and Alternate Support

Several regions, including Bangalore, Ramanagara, Tumkur, Channapatna, and Kolar, among others, will experience service interruptions during the upgrade. Consumers in these areas are advised to complete any necessary transactions before October 4 to avoid inconvenience. For urgent assistance during the outage, BESCOM has urged customers to contact their 24/7 helpline at 1912 or visit the official BESCOM website for further updates and guidance.

Future Rollouts and Upgrades

Phase-2 of the system upgrade, set to go live from October 7, will include enhanced functionalities such as EAM (Enterprise Asset Management), GIS (Geographic Information System), and mobile application updates. These upgrades are aimed at streamlining BESCOM’s operations and improving customer engagement. BESCOM also plans further IT enhancements to boost system efficiency and ensure a seamless experience for both domestic and commercial users.

BESCOM’s Commitment to Customer Service

Despite the temporary disruption, BESCOM assures its customers that the ongoing upgrades are designed to offer long-term benefits. By modernizing its IT infrastructure, BESCOM aims to provide faster, more reliable services, reducing the chances of technical glitches and improving overall user satisfaction. Consumers are encouraged to stay informed through BESCOM’s official communication channels and helplines during the outage period.
