Former Minister HD Revanna Granted Interim Relief by High Court in Sexual Harassment Case

Bengaluru, August 30 – The Karnataka High Court has granted interim relief to former minister HD Revanna in connection with a sexual harassment case filed by a woman from Holenarasipur. The court's decision provides temporary reprieve for Revanna, as it has directed the trial court not to proceed with any action until September 19.

The case against Revanna involves allegations of sexual misconduct made by a female aide working at his residence. The complaint was filed on April 28 at the Holenarasipur police station, with the woman accusing Revanna of sexual harassment.

Senior advocate C.V. Nagesh, representing Revanna, argued that the FIR should be quashed, citing that the complaint under Sections 354A and 354D of the IPC was filed four years after the alleged incident. He also contended that the FIR is not applicable to the sections mentioned, including IPC Sections 506 and 509.

On behalf of the government, Special Public Prosecutor Ravivarma Kumar informed the court that the chargesheet has already been filed. After hearing arguments from both sides, Justice M. Nagaprasanna, presiding over the single bench, ordered the trial court to refrain from any proceedings until the next hearing scheduled for September 19.

The High Court's order comes as a significant relief for Revanna, who had previously been granted bail in a related kidnapping case. The outcome of the next hearing will determine the further course of action in this ongoing legal matter.
