Investor Praises Mumbai After 3-Hour Bengaluru Traffic Nightmare Causes Missed Flight
Prominent investor Ashish Kacholia took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to express his frustration after missing a flight from Bengaluru to Mumbai.
Bengaluru, Karnataka: Prominent investor Ashish Kacholia took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to express his frustration after missing a flight from Bengaluru to Mumbai. Kacholia, who is also a co-founder of Hungama Digital, blamed Google Maps for providing an inaccurate travel time estimate, which led to his delayed arrival at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA).
Kacholia was traveling from Bengaluru’s HSR Layout to KIA, a distance of over 50 kilometers. According to his post, Google Maps initially estimated that the journey would take 1 hour and 45 minutes. However, the actual travel time extended to 3 hours, causing him to miss his flight.
Yesterday missed my flight from Bengaluru to Mumbai because journey took 3 hours instead of 1.45 as shown by Google maps.

Deeply grateful to Mumbai administration @mybmc for investing in infrastructure to keep traffic moving in maximum city.
Life is relative…🤣👍
In a follow-up comment, Kacholia noted that rain during the trip further complicated the journey, exacerbating the traffic situation and contributing to the significant delay. He also contrasted the infrastructure of Bengaluru and Mumbai, praising Mumbai for its ability to keep traffic moving despite congestion.
Social Media Reactions to Bengaluru’s Traffic
Kacholia’s post sparked a conversation on X about the reliability of Google Maps in Bengaluru, especially concerning travel time estimates.
One user, Sanjay Singh, compared the app’s performance in Gurugram, where he found it to be more reliable, to Bengaluru, where inaccurate travel times are a common issue. “I think Bangalore is the only place where you can't rely on the travel time shown on Google Maps. Rarely happened in Gurgaon. (Even though I used to commute Gurgaon to Delhi every day),” Singh wrote.
Another user advised travelers to factor in additional time when heading to Bengaluru airport, especially during peak hours, citing traffic as a significant productivity killer in the city. “Aim to reach the airport 2 hours before take-off time at Bangalore. Add another 30 mins if the travel slot is in the peak hour. Commute is the biggest productivity killer in this great city,” the user suggested.
A third user highlighted the challenges posed by Bengaluru’s infrastructure, particularly during rain. “Bangalore turns pathetic specifically during rain due to water logging. Infrastructure needs a vast improvement compared to the stature it holds,” the user commented.
The discussion underscores the ongoing concerns about Bengaluru's traffic and infrastructure, with many residents calling for improvements to better accommodate the city's growing population and traffic demands.
