Mahalakshmi Murder Case: Chilling Confession in Accused's Suicide Note Reveals Dark Plot in Bengaluru

Bangalore, India – The Mahalakshmi murder case, which shook the city of Bengaluru, has taken a shocking turn with the release of details from the accused Mukti Ranjan Roy’s suicide note. Roy, who was found dead in Odisha after fleeing from the crime scene, left behind a note that reveals disturbing motives and details surrounding the murder of Mahalakshmi.

The Tragic Unfolding

On September 2, Mahalakshmi, who was in a relationship with Mukti Ranjan, was brutally murdered, and her dismembered body was found in her Bengaluru home. The discovery of her remains came on September 21, when neighbors alerted authorities to a foul smell emanating from her residence in the city’s Vyalikaval area. Police found her body parts stored in a refrigerator and scattered across the room.

Mukti Ranjan, who worked at a mall in Bengaluru, fled to his hometown of Bhadrak, Odisha, after committing the crime. Authorities traced him there, only to find him hanging from a tree in an apparent suicide. His confession was revealed in a chilling note, where he explained his actions.

The Accused’s Suicide Note

According to police reports, Mukti Ranjan’s suicide note provides insights into his mindset and the events leading up to the murder. Translated by the Odisha police and handed over to Bengaluru authorities, the note paints a grim picture of Mahalakshmi’s intentions. Roy claims that Mahalakshmi had planned to kill him, dismember his body, and dispose of it in a black suitcase, which police found at the crime scene. In his note, Roy wrote, “If I hadn’t killed her, she would have chopped me into pieces.”

He further detailed how Mahalakshmi had been pressuring him to marry her and demanded money and jewelry. When he failed to meet her demands, she allegedly turned violent, resulting in frequent arguments and physical altercations. Sensing danger, Roy claimed to have acted in self-defense, killing Mahalakshmi in the process.

A Case of Self-Defense or Premeditated Murder?

In his confession, Roy admitted to strangling Mahalakshmi on the night of September 2–3. He then bought a cutter to dismember her body, which he stored in the refrigerator. Consumed by guilt, he fled to Odisha, where he later ended his life.

The case has raised questions about whether Roy’s actions were indeed in self-defense or a premeditated act of violence. Mahalakshmi, who was living separately from her husband and daughter, had been in a relationship with Roy, and their sudden disappearance on September 1 had already raised suspicions.

The Crime Scene and Investigation

The Bengaluru police commissioner, B. Dayanand, shared that a charge sheet will be filed soon, as the investigation into the case continues. The cutter used in the crime has not yet been recovered, but a local shopkeeper has identified Roy as the man who purchased it.

The revelations from Roy’s suicide note have stunned the public, shedding light on the complexity and brutality of the crime. Police are also working on piecing together the final events leading up to the murder, while questions remain regarding the true nature of the couple's relationship and what ultimately triggered the horrific act.

The Mahalakshmi murder case is a grim reminder of the dangers that lurk in domestic relationships marred by violence and manipulation. As the investigation proceeds, authorities are working to ensure that justice is served, while the details of this harrowing crime continue to haunt the community.
