Initiated by the Union Road Transport Ministry, this groundbreaking project aims to dramatically cut travel time and fuel consumption, fostering regional growth and industrial expansion.

Importance of the Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway

Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced that the new Bengaluru-Chennai expressway is on the verge of inauguration. This cutting-edge national highway, constructed at a cost of ₹17,930 crores, is anticipated to be fully operational by the year's end. The expressway will reduce the travel time between Bengaluru and Chennai to just five hours, a considerable improvement over the current duration.

Key Features and Construction Stages

The expressway covers a total distance of 262 kilometers, with 110 kilometers in Karnataka, and the rest passing through Andhra Pradesh into Tamil Nadu. This four-lane highway will not only streamline travel but also promote the development of industrial corridors along its path.

Phase One: Hoskote to Bethamangala

The initial phase stretches 62.6 kilometers, linking Hoskote in Bengaluru to Bethamangala in Karnataka. This segment will incorporate advanced road infrastructure to ensure smooth and efficient transportation.

With the completion of the Bengaluru-Chennai expressway, the two cities will enjoy enhanced connectivity, driving economic growth and industrial development in the region.
