Man Arrested for ‘Inappropriate’ Mid-Air Antics on Delhi-Chennai Flight

CHENNAI: A 43-year-old man was arrested for allegedly inappropriately touching a woman on a Delhi-Chennai IndiGo flight on Wednesday. The woman claimed that while she was asleep during the flight, the man seated behind her touched her inappropriately.

The accused, identified as Rajesh Sharma, is a sales executive from Rajasthan who has been living in Chennai for several years.

An officer from the All Women’s Police Station at the airport stated, "The woman filed a complaint alleging that she was seated by the window, and while she was asleep, the man seated behind her, also by the window, touched her inappropriately," as reported by Hindustan Times.

Upon landing at Chennai airport at 4:30 PM, the woman, with the assistance of airline staff, immediately lodged a police complaint. Following the complaint, the authorities registered a case under Section 75 (sexual harassment) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and arrested the suspect.

The airline has not yet released an official statement regarding the incident.
