Reports indicate that the branch of Nainital Bank located in Sector 62, Noida, fell victim to this cyber attack. The hackers breached the bank's RTGS channel and compromised the manager's login password, transferring the funds to 89 different accounts.
The fraudulent activity occurred between June 16 and June 20, as per the report of the Nainital Bank, who filed a complaint at the cybercrime police station.
In his statement to the police, Shrivastav revealed that the discrepancy in the balance sheet was noticed during the reconciliation process on June 17. A staggering ₹3,60,94,20,000 discrepancy was identified during the RBI settlement of the RTGS account.
According to reports, the IT manager of Nainital Bank has filed a case in the cybercrime station, alleging that the bank's server was hacked and the manager's login password was compromised, leading to the fraudulent withdrawal of approximately ₹16.5 crore between June 16 and June 20.
