Atishi Marlena Appointed Delhi CM: Examining Her Assets and Academic Background

Atishi Marlena has been appointed as the new Chief Minister of Delhi. The decision was announced during a legislative party meeting held at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence on Tuesday morning.

New Delhi, Sept. 17 — Atishi Marlena has been appointed as the new Chief Minister of Delhi. The decision was announced during a legislative party meeting held at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence on Tuesday morning. Kejriwal will resign from his position today and is scheduled to meet Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena at 4:30 PM.

Atishi Marlena, following in the footsteps of Sushma Swaraj and Sheila Dikshit, becomes the third woman to serve as Delhi’s Chief Minister. She will join the ranks of women Chief Ministers in India, including Mamata Banerjee.

Asset Declaration:

According to Atishi’s affidavit, her total assets are valued at ₹1.41 crore. The breakdown is as follows:

Cash in Hand: ₹50,000 (personal) and ₹15,000 (companion), totaling ₹65,000.
Deposits in Banks and Financial Institutions: ₹1,00,87,323.
NSC, Postal Savings, etc.: ₹18,60,500.
LIC or Other Insurance Policies: ₹5,00,000.

Academic Background:

Atishi boasts an impressive educational background. She studied History at St. Stephen’s College and topped Delhi University. She completed her postgraduate studies at Oxford University on a Chevening scholarship and earned a second postgraduate degree in educational research from Oxford in 2006 as a Rhodes Scholar.

Before joining the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Atishi taught History and English at Rishi Valley School in Andhra Pradesh. In her role with the Delhi government, she has overseen a wide array of departments including Finance, Planning, Public Works Department (PWD), Water, Electricity, Education, Higher Education, TTE, Services, Public Relations, and Vigilance. She currently manages 11 departments, the highest number of any minister in the Delhi Cabinet, and is the only female minister in the current cabinet.
