New Delhi: In response to the tragic drowning deaths of three UPSC aspirants in the basement of Rao IAS Coaching Center in Old Rajendra Nagar, the authorities have initiated strict actions. Following swift arrests, bulldozer operations have now commenced. Three bulldozers are actively removing encroachments outside the Rao IAS Coaching Center in Rajendra Nagar.

A significant police presence has been deployed to facilitate the bulldozer action. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has dispatched the bulldozers to Rajendra Nagar, where they are currently demolishing illegal constructions. Reports suggest that similar actions are being taken outside other coaching centers with unauthorized structures.

The incident, which occurred last Saturday, saw heavy rainfall flooding the basement of the coaching center, leading to the deaths of three students preparing for the Civil Services Examination. This tragedy has prompted the government to take immediate action against illegal constructions in the area.

Several high-ranking Delhi Police officers are present on-site during the bulldozer operations. Additionally, the police have arrested five more individuals in connection with the incident, including the basement owner, bringing the total number of arrests to seven.

Previously, the Delhi Police had arrested the owner and coordinator of Rao IAS Study Circle on charges including culpable homicide. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) M. Harshvardhan mentioned that each floor of the building has a different owner. He stated, “Five more individuals have been arrested in the case of sudden flooding in the coaching institute’s building, including the basement owner and the driver of the vehicle that damaged the building’s gate, leading to the basement flooding.”

According to the police, the car was moving through rainwater, increasing the water flow and causing the basement door to break. Officials have assured strict action against all those responsible for the incident.
