Delhi Drug Addict Arrested For Kidnapping 4-Year-Old Boy From Footpath

In a swift operation, Delhi Police have arrested a man suspected of kidnapping a four-year-old boy from a footpath near Red Fort. The accused, identified as Sekhu (53) from Shamli, Uttar Pradesh, was arrested near Gandhi Park Bankhandi Temple on Saturday night.

The incident came to light when the boy's mother reported his disappearance to the police on Friday. She recounted falling asleep with her son on a footpath near Parade Ground parking area at 9 pm Thursday, only to discover him missing the next morning.

An FIR under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Section 137(2), pertaining to kidnapping, was promptly filed. Delhi Police launched an intensive search, examining footage from approximately 370 CCTV cameras in the vicinity.

The investigation revealed footage of a man wandering near Parade Ground parking lot on the night of the incident. The suspect, disguised with a cap and mask, was later seen heading towards Jama Masjid with the child. He then boarded a battery rickshaw to New Delhi railway station, where he was captured on clear CCTV footage before disappearing.

On receiving intelligence that the suspect was planning to catch a train from Old Delhi railway station, police swiftly surrounded Gandhi Park. The kidnapper was arrested, and the child safely rescued.

The Delhi Police are commended for their rapid response and effective use of CCTV surveillance in solving the case swiftly.
