Delhi News: Are liquor shops closed on Muharram? Check the list of dry days from July to December

Delhi News: In observance of Muharram on July 17, various cities and states across India have declared the closure of liquor shops. The Delhi government's excise department has also mandated that liquor shops remain shut on specific days between July and September.

The designated dry days in Delhi for this period are:

Muharram, July 17: Marking the first month of the Islamic calendar, Muharram includes Ashura, the tenth day, commemorating the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad.

Independence Day, August 15: Celebrating India's independence from British rule, this national holiday sees all offices, schools, and colleges closed.

Janmashtami, August 26: Honoring the birth of Lord Krishna, this festival is widely celebrated, especially in Mathura and Vrindavan with depictions of Krishna’s life.

Eid-e-Milad, September 16: This day commemorates the birth of Prophet Muhammad, celebrated in the third month of the Islamic calendar, Rabi' al-Awwal.

Additionally, reports indicate that dry days will be observed on July 17 in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, and Pune due to Muharram.
