Dry Days in Delhi: Mark Your Calendars – No Liquor Sales on These Dates

New Delhi – The Delhi Excise Department has released a calendar outlining the dry days for the coming months, with liquor sales being prohibited on specific dates in October and November. With festival season approaching, the number of dry days is set to increase, leaving many to plan accordingly.

Dry Days in October and November

According to the calendar issued by the Delhi government’s Excise Department, liquor stores will remain closed on six days in October and two days in November. Here are the dates when alcohol sales will be restricted:

  • October 2: Gandhi Jayanti
  • October 12: Dussehra
  • October 17: Valmiki Jayanti
  • October 31: Diwali
  • November 15: Guru Nanak Jayanti
  • November 24: Guru Tegh Bahadur Martyrdom Day

Excise Department's Strict Guidelines

The Delhi government has made it clear that all liquor stores must remain closed on these designated dry days. Any violation of this order will result in the cancellation of the store’s license, and no compensation will be provided.

Hotels Exempt from Restrictions

However, there’s good news for those who wish to enjoy a drink on dry days. Hotels with L-15 and L-15F licenses will continue to serve alcohol during these days. The restrictions primarily apply to liquor stores, while licensed hotels remain exempt.

With the majority of major festivals falling in October, the month has the most dry days, so it's important for residents and visitors to note these dates and plan accordingly.
