Ghaziabad Parrot Smuggling: A major parrot smuggling operation was successfully foiled in Ghaziabad, where a joint effort by the People for Animals (PFA) and local police led to the recovery of 200 endangered parrots. The birds were being smuggled from Rajasthan to Ghaziabad in a Rajasthan Roadways bus. While two of the accused managed to flee, two others were arrested during the operation.

The accused, previously involved in parrot smuggling and jailed in the past, had re-entered the illegal trade after being released on bail. According to PFA member Surbhi Rawat, this was a large-scale smuggling attempt, with the parrots intended to be trafficked to various locations across India. The operation was meticulously planned, and the authorities acted swiftly to intercept the smugglers.

Following the bust, the parrots were sent to the City Forest Park for health check-ups under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer. The authorities are ensuring the birds are free from any physical distress or injury caused during the trafficking. Once cleared by medical tests, the healthy parrots will be released into the park, ensuring a safer future for them. The police are actively searching for the remaining accused and are hopeful of their imminent capture.
