Property Registration Simplified in Delhi with NGDRS
New Delhi: Property registration in Delhi has now become easier and more transparent with the implementation of the National Generic Document Registration System (NGDRS) in all 22 sub-registrar offices across the city. This move aims to streamline property registration processes and enhance service efficiency.
Already Implemented in 18 States and UTs
The NGDRS technology promotes ease of doing business and citizen services, marking a significant milestone in urban administration. While this technology is already in use in 18 states and union territories, Delhi had been lagging behind. The new system will gradually pave the way for faceless property registration in the national capital.
According to Raj Niwas, the successful implementation of NGDRS in Delhi is attributed to the continuous efforts and supervision of LG VK Saxena. Initially, the system was introduced as a pilot project in two sub-registrar offices last year. This integrated technology initiative aims to streamline the registration process, increase transparency, reduce processing time, and curb fraud and corruption.
Over 2.31 Lakh Properties Registered
During a review of NGDRS on Friday, the Lieutenant Governor was informed that the system has been implemented in all 22 sub-registrar offices, with over 2.31 lakh properties registered under it so far. LG Saxena has directed that all property registrations in Delhi be completed under this system by January 2025.
Additionally, LG Saxena has instructed officials to integrate property registration-related matters of various agencies like DDA, MCD, and DSIIDC with NGDRS to ensure seamless, transparent, and citizen-friendly services.
NGDRS: One Nation, One Software
Launched by the Government of India, NGDRS is based on the concept of "One Nation, One Software," primarily catering to property and document registration needs. The system offers an online integrated portal for appointments, valuation, fee calculation, payments, document data entry, submission, and registration.
The NGDRS allows citizens to calculate stamp duty, registration fees, and other applicable charges through the property valuation module. It also enables citizens to book appointments for document registration at sub-registrar offices in advance.
Furthermore, potential property buyers can verify and certify the actual ownership of a property, reducing the risk of fraud. The Lieutenant Governor has also directed the DDA to integrate its housing allocation and lease deed system with NGDRS to eliminate fraudulent activities in DDA property registrations.
This significant step towards modernization and transparency in property registration is expected to bring substantial benefits to citizens and improve overall governance in Delhi.
