New Delhi, October 21, 2024: In a scene straight out of a crime thriller, a distributor in southwest Delhi was robbed of a staggering ₹62 lakh at gunpoint in Kapashera. The audacious midday heist left the victim shaken but ultimately led to a swift police operation that nabbed five suspects, including an insider who spilled the beans on cash movements.

The Great Scooter Caper

On October 16, Bhagwat Prasad, a distributor for a private company, was on his scooter after collecting cash from various small distributors and retailers in Dundahera, Gurgaon, and Kapashera. As he made his way home, disaster struck around 12:20 PM near Samalkha. Three masked bandits on a black motorcycle swooped in, attempting to snatch his bag filled with a cool ₹1 lakh resting at the footstep of his scooter.

The Showdown

When Prasad put up a fight, one of the assailants pulled out a pistol and threatened his life. The robbers didn’t need a second invitation—they shoved Prasad aside, made off with his bag and scooter, and vanished into thin air.

Police Work to the Rescue

Enter the Delhi police, who weren’t going to let this brazen crime slide. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Surendra Choudhary assembled a crack team led by ACP Satyajeet Sarin to crack the case. They combed through over 100 CCTV cameras in the area and surrounding 10-15 km radius, piecing together the robbers' getaway.

Culprits Caught Red-Handed

Thanks to diligent detective work, officers tracked down suspects Asif (22) and Amir (22) at Chhath Ghat Road in Dundahera as they attempted to flee back to their hometown. To their surprise, they found a whopping ₹35 lakh stashed in their car! Not only that, but the stolen scooter was also recovered.

The Inside Scoop

Further investigation revealed that Chandan Singh (29), an employee of the same company, had been feeding information to the thieves about cash movements. His betrayal added another layer of intrigue to this dramatic heist.
