Karnataka: Family Discovers Giant 12-Foot King Cobra in Garden, Panic in Agumbe Village

Agumbe, Karnataka: A massive 12-foot king cobra caused a stir in Karnataka's Agumbe village earlier this week. The snake was safely rescued and released into the wild after its presence sparked panic among the local residents.

The incident occurred when the cobra was seen crossing a road and was disturbed by onlookers, prompting it to seek refuge in a bush within a house's compound. The homeowners, upon realizing they had a highly venomous snake in their garden, immediately contacted the forest department. The forest department then alerted the Agumbe Rainforest Research Station (ARRS) about the situation.

Ajay Giri, the field director at ARRS, shared a video of the dramatic rescue on Instagram. He explained that the homeowners and neighbors were understandably worried and contacted the forest officials, who then informed ARRS. The ARRS team, recognizing the danger to both the residents and the snake, quickly provided instructions over the phone on what to do and what not to do until they could arrive on the scene.

The ARRS staff acted swiftly, arriving at the location to safely capture the king cobra. Thanks to their prompt and professional response, the snake was rescued without harm and subsequently released back into its natural habitat.

This incident highlights the importance of quick action and proper handling of wildlife encounters to ensure the safety of both humans and animals.
