Govt. of India has awarded majorly three cities including Kolkata for significant reduction in Particulate Matter₁₀ levels and overall Air Quality Index improvement.
Grateful to the people of Kolkata for their support. Let’s all — citizens and…
The central government has recognized three cities in the country for their efforts in environmental protection, and Kolkata is one of them. Thank you to the city residents for standing by us in making Kolkata clean and green.
PM-10 is usually emitted from construction work. These particles are a combination of solid and liquid. As days go by, urbanization is increasing. On the other hand, trees are disappearing. As the number of concrete multi-storey buildings increases, the intensity of pollution particles increases, resulting in higher pollution.
The situation in several cities in the country, including Delhi, is almost the same. Kolkata is right behind it. However, the Chief Minister did not say who published the results. Environmental activist Subhash Dutt said, "Pollution in the city is low during this time. When winter comes, we will understand how much pollution has decreased."
Not too long ago, Kolkata had overtaken Delhi to become the second-most polluted city in the country. The city's air quality had become 'very poor' during winter. In India and globally, cities like Karachi, Delhi, and Tilottama were in the top three.
The reason is none other than the very fine pollution particles floating in the air. These pollution particles or particulate matter (PM) are poisoning the air continuously. PM-10 and PM-2.5 are now a global concern. Congratulations, Kolkata, for doing such a great job for your environment and your future by keeping the city clean and healthy.
