Haina NC, Shiv Sena, reacted sharply by demanding an apology. "He can't respect a woman, a capable professional who enters politics, and uses such terms. I will file a complaint with the Election Commission," she declared.

Escalating the language, she criticized how she was referred to in her complaint. "In 2014 and 2019, I worked for you under PM Modi's leadership. Now they feel threatened because they called a woman 'goods.' The public will hold them accountable for this language." Clarity on political ideology, respect, she said.

Shaina, in an ABP News interview, "You must apologize. It is the 'Mahavinaash' alliance. When Sawant made such remarks, Congress MLA Amin Patel was laughing. I am going to the police station and will lodge complaints with Mumbai Police and Election Commission. An apology is required.".

Another senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad also denounced the comment by saying respect towards women is very crucial in politics and termed the comment "reprehensible".

Shaina NC had resigned from BJP on October 28 and joined Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena, who fielded her from Mumba Devi. Interestingly, Shiv Sena and BJP are both constituents of the Mahayuti alliance.

The main opponent to Shaina in Mumba Devi is Congress candidate Amin Patel. While everyone had more or less guessed that Shaina would be contesting from Worli, Shiv Sena chose to field Milind Deora there to take on the son of Uddhav Thackeray in Aaditya Thackeray.
