Mumbai: 52-Year-Old Man Murdered While Celebrating Birthday with 21-Year-Old Girlfriend at Spa

In a shocking incident in Mumbai's Worli area, a 52-year-old man was brutally murdered inside a spa on Tuesday night. The victim, identified as Guru Waghmare, was attacked with sharp weapons by two unidentified assailants.

Waghmare, who had several criminal cases against him, claimed to be a police informant and an RTI activist. According to police, he had been charged with offenses including rape and extortion. Regularly visiting the spa located at Worli Naka, he was well-known to the employees there.

Birthday Celebration Turns Deadly

Waghmare had celebrated his birthday on July 17. On the evening of the incident, he visited the spa with his 21-year-old girlfriend and three male friends. They requested a birthday party at the spa, but later decided to continue the celebration at a hotel in Sion.

After returning to the spa around 12:30 AM, Waghmare and his girlfriend stayed behind while the other three friends left.

The Attack

Approximately two hours later, two men entered the spa and attacked Waghmare with sharp weapons. The attack left Waghmare with severe injuries, and he was found by police at around 2:30 AM, lying in a pool of blood with his throat slit.

Police Action

Following the incident, the Worli police have detained four individuals, including Waghmare's girlfriend, for questioning. An official statement from the police confirmed that a murder case has been registered. Waghmare had at least ten criminal cases filed against him, including a rape case registered at Mulund Police Station.

The police are investigating the motive behind the attack and are working to identify and apprehend the assailants. The case has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the dark underbelly of crime in the city.
