Mumbai Gold Scam Kingpin Arrested: How He Duped 60+ Victims of ₹1.5 Crore

Man, this guy had some audacity! Mukesh Suryawanshi (or should we call him "Maddy Surya" – because apparently scammers need fake names) just got busted by Mahim Police after years of swindling people with fake gold deals. And oh boy, his con game was next level.
How He Played the "Gold Guru"
This 33-year-old smooth talker lived large to scam larger:
Flaunted a luxury lifestyle to gain trust (classic con move)
Took a fashion designer to DUBAI for a "business shoot" with Moroccan models (!!)
Promised farmers "double returns" on gold investments (sigh...)
Used FAKE companies/bank KYCs (because why not go all-in on fraud?)
In total? Over ₹1.5 CRORE stolen from 60+ victims—including farmers, professionals, and probably anyone who fell for his "cheap gold" trap.
The Sting That Finally Nailed Him
After six FIRs across Mumbai, cops tracked him down to Pune’s Supreme Hotel (ironic name, huh?). But here’s the kicker:
-
He was already out on bail (thanks, COVID loopholes!)
-
His dad & family might be in on it too (scamming runs in the blood?)
-
Gang members still missing (so this ain’t over yet)
Victims Speak: "He Ruined Lives"
One Pune woman lost ₹42.8 lakh back in 2018. Farmers in Nashik/Dhule got tricked into handing over actual gold bars, thinking they’d get "double profits." And that designer? She got a free Dubai trip—but at the cost of lakhs in cash.
What’s Next?
Suryawanshi’s in custody till March 30, but cops say more arrests are coming. Meanwhile, his victims are left wondering: "Will we ever get our money back?"
