Mumbai: Govt in election mode, neglecting Ladli Bahin Scheme for transgenders, says Yashomati Thakur

Mumbai: Currently, women across the state are making significant efforts to benefit from the Ladli Bahin Scheme. Amidst this, Yashomati Thakur has made a unique demand, advocating that transgender individuals should also receive the benefits of this scheme, similar to women. However, despite raising this issue in the assembly, it appears that the government has ignored this demand.
Yashomati Thakur argues that when policies for women were formulated, policies for the transgender community should have been created simultaneously. However, neither the women’s policy nor the transgender policy was brought before the assembly, which Thakur considers a serious oversight by the government.
She also points out that the government is now in election mode and is not focusing on the implementation of the scheme, instead getting entangled in election-related chaos. Thakur has vowed to maintain consistency in her demand, despite the government's current stance.
