Assam News: Three militants killed in encounter with security forces in Cachar

Assam News: In a significant operation, three militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Assam's Cachar district late on July 16. The clash occurred in the Bhuban Hills area, situated on the Assam-Mizoram border.
Earlier that day, security forces had arrested three militants in Dhalai Ganga Nagar, Cachar, and recovered weapons from them. The operation, led by Superintendent of Police Nomal Mahatta, subsequently moved to the Bhuban Hills with the arrested individuals.
Assam Chief Minister confirmed the successful operation on social media, stating, "In an early morning operation, @cacharpolice neutralized 3 Hmar militants from Assam and neighbouring Manipur. Police also recovered 2 AK rifles, 1 other rifle, and 1 pistol."
During the operation, militants hiding in the hills opened fire on the security forces, leading to a retaliatory exchange that lasted about an hour. This resulted in the deaths of the three militants, two of whom were from Cachar and one from Manipur.
The encounter also left three policemen injured and caused damage to a Cachar police vehicle. The Assam Police's swift action in this high-stakes situation underscores their ongoing efforts to maintain security in the region.
