The app is designed to provide passengers with comprehensive information on bus routes from their current location to their desired destination, along with real-time bus tracking.
Starting August 17, Android users can download the app from the Google Play Store. The app will be inaugurated by PMPML's Chairperson and Managing Director (CMD), Deepa Mudhol Munde, during a ceremony on Thursday.
Key features of the 'Apli PMPML' app include online ticket booking, UPI payment integration, and a platform for lodging complaints. PMPML's Public Relations Officer, Satish Gate, highlighted that the app also facilitates the booking of Metro service tickets within the city. Additionally, daily commuters can purchase passes through the app, with pricing set at Rs 40, Rs 50, and Rs 120.
Local organizations dedicated to improving public transportation in Pune, such as Parisar and the Low Carbon Mobility Network, have expressed their support for the app. Tanzeel Allapur, Project Associate at Parisar, commended PMPML for responding to the needs of Pune's citizens, noting that this development is a significant step towards enhancing the accessibility and reliability of public transport in the city.
"While this is a major advancement, our commitment does not end here. We will continue to monitor the app’s performance, ensuring it remains user-friendly and that any issues faced by users are promptly addressed to make this app a true success," Allapur added.
In addition to the app launch, the CMD will honor outstanding employees and officers of the transport corporation during the Independence Day celebrations.
