Pune: One Killed, Three Injured as Drunk Driver Collides with Multiple Vehicles

A tragic accident in Pune's Kothrud area resulted in the death of a 36-year-old woman and left three others injured when a tempo, driven by an allegedly intoxicated individual, crashed into several vehicles. The collision occurred around 9:15 p.m. on Sunday on Paud Road.

The driver, identified as 26-year-old Ashish Pawar, has been arrested by the police. He faces charges under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act. According to authorities, Pawar, who was reportedly under the influence of alcohol, operated the tempo recklessly, striking a total of five vehicles, including motorcycles and scooters.

The victim, Gitanjali Amrale, succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Her husband, Sambhaji Amrale, along with Sahol Pite and Madhuri Dahotre, sustained serious injuries and are receiving medical care at a private hospital.

The police have launched a further investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
