Raigad, Maharashtra - In a tragic incident, a 38-year-old engineer, Srinivasan Kuruturi, ended his life by jumping from the Atal Setu bridge due to financial difficulties. The incident occurred at 12:24 PM on Tuesday, with Srinivasan leaping from the Mumbai to Navi Mumbai lane of the bridge.

CCTV footage from the Atal Setu bridge captured the entire incident. The video shows a Tata Nexon car (MH 05 EV 0849) stopping abruptly in the Mumbai to Navi Mumbai lane within the Uran police station limits. Srinivasan is seen exiting the vehicle, climbing the bridge railing swiftly, and then jumping into the sea below.

Victim's Background

Srinivasan Kuruturi, a resident of Dombivli, had returned from working abroad about 7-8 months ago. He had started a business but was reportedly facing severe financial strain, which is believed to have driven him to suicide.

Rescue Efforts

Upon receiving the information, the Uran police, along with local residents, launched a search operation in the sea. However, the search faced significant challenges due to afternoon rain and high tide conditions, and by late night, Srinivasan's body had not yet been recovered.


Police Investigation

A case has been registered at the Nhava Sheva police station in Uran taluka. The police are investigating the incident and have appealed to the public for any additional information that might assist in the search and investigation.
