A recent ransomware attack has disrupted transactions in 21 cooperative banks across Gujarat, severely impacting the banking operations in the state. The attack has particularly affected over 15 banks in Surat and South Gujarat, resulting in a disruption of transactions worth 1200 crore rupees.

The cooperative banking system has been down for the past four days, causing significant inconvenience to customers and institutions relying on these banks. The attack has extended its impact beyond the state, affecting a total of 356 banks across the country.

Authorities are working to restore the system, but it is expected to take another one to two days for normal operations to resume. The disruption has particularly impacted customers who rely heavily on cheque transactions, exacerbating the inconvenience caused by the attack.

Kanjibhai Bhalada, Vice President of the South Gujarat Cooperative Bank Association, stated, "The ransomware attack has significantly impacted our banking operations, and efforts are underway to restore the system to its full functionality. We understand the inconvenience caused to our customers and are working tirelessly to resolve the issue."

As the banks work to mitigate the effects of the attack and secure their systems, customers are advised to stay updated with their respective banks for further information and guidance.
