AAP Government Misleading Employees on Old Pension Scheme, Claims Union Leader - Read Now

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab is facing criticism for allegedly misleading government employees about the Old Pension Scheme (OPS). Sukhjit Singh, senior vice president of the National Movement for Old Pension Scheme and president of the CPF Employees Union’s Punjab unit, spoke out against the government during a recent press conference.
Singh warned government employees, especially those in poll-bound Haryana, about the “dangers of falling prey to false promises” made by AAP leaders regarding the restoration of the OPS. He expressed concern that these promises are not being fulfilled and that the government is stalling on important issues.
According to Singh, union leaders who demand the Old Pension Scheme and justice for employees have faced severe actions from the government. He claimed that they were placed under house arrest and transferred to remote areas to silence their voices. This has raised serious questions about the treatment of government employees who are advocating for their rights.
Singh also mentioned that the Punjab Chief Minister has postponed over ten scheduled meetings with union leaders. He criticized the cabinet subcommittee set up by the state government to address the issues of government employees, saying it is merely “killing time” without taking any real action.
He pointed out that every time elections are announced in any state, AAP leaders come out to campaign, making promises about the Old Pension Scheme. However, Singh claims that in the states where AAP is in power, they are not delivering on these promises. Instead, they continue to stall the implementation of the OPS, leaving many employees feeling betrayed.
Singh highlighted other unfulfilled promises made by the AAP government, including the restoration of pay scales, the revocation of the ₹200 development tax, full salaries for new recruits, the implementation of the 6th Pay Commission, and the release of arrears for dearness allowance (DA).
In conclusion, the allegations made by Singh reflect growing dissatisfaction among government employees regarding the AAP government's handling of the Old Pension Scheme and other crucial issues. As the elections approach, employees are urged to be cautious and not fall for what they believe are false promises.
