On Tuesday’s second day of the commercial mines auction, Ambuja Cements Ltd. won a coal mine in Maharashtra.
While Shreesatya Mines Private Ltd won a coal block in the eastern state of Jharkhand, Assam Mining Development Corporation Ltd won the highest bid for a coal block in the western state.
Three additional coal blocks were going up for sale.
Six coal mines were put up for sale on the second day of the electronic auction, according to a statement from the coal ministry. “Forward auctions for these mines have been launched on February 27, 2023.
Five of the six blocks put up for sale contain completely explored coal mines, while one only has incomplete exploration.
These six blocks collectively have 488 million tonnes of reserves.
The sixth round and second attempt of the fifth round of commercial coal mine auctions were initiated by the coal ministry in November of last year.
