Amit Majithia Deported to Thailand by UAE Authorities: Connection to Mahadev Book

Amit Majithia, the promoter of the offshore illegal betting platform CBTF, has been deported to Thailand by UAE authorities. This action follows his recent arrest by the Dubai National Security Guard. Majithia’s deportation is believed to be linked to his associations with the Mahadev Book illegal betting app, where he is a key operative alongside masterminds Saurabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal.
As of now, there is no clarity on whether Majithia will be deported to India or if the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is coordinating with UAE officials for his extradition. Moreover, Majithia has been banned from entering the UAE in the future. The exact reasons behind his arrest and deportation remain undisclosed.
Background on Amit Majithia and CBTF
Hailing from Gujarat, Majithia has been implicated in various illegal betting transactions from October 2022 to April 2023, coinciding with the exposure of the Mahadev Book illegal betting network. The ED has identified Majithia as a significant figure in this network, which includes over 60 illegal betting platforms, including CBTF.
Impact of Increased GST on Illegal Betting Platforms
Majithia previously stated that the higher GST rates for online real money gaming in India could benefit illegal platforms like CBTF, as they evade GST payments. Despite government restrictions, Majithia noted that such platforms can remain operational through mirror domains.
