AWS Outage Hits Binance, KuCoin and Other Crypto Platforms

Large cryptocurrency exchanges KuCoin and Binance were briefly compelled to halt withdrawals on April 10 after a network outage in their data center host, Amazon Web Services (AWS). The outage impacted several crypto platforms, including wallet services and on-chain analytics tools.

What Happened

Binance confirmed the issue through a post on X, saying:

"We are experiencing a problem with some services on the Binance platform as a result of a short-term network loss in the AWS data center."

Even though Binance restored withdrawals five minutes after the first notification, numerous users were still experiencing issues with placing trades on both Binance and KuCoin. Various X (formerly Twitter) posts indicated that some of the orders were not going through, but some were successfully executed.

Other crypto-related services also experienced disruptions.

  • Rabby, a popular crypto wallet,

  • and DeBank, an on-chain analytics platform,
both reported outages due to the same AWS issues.

AWS is widely used by businesses for cloud computing, website hosting, and data storage. Outages can cause cascading failures across platforms that rely on its infrastructure.
