Blinkit to Launch 30-Minute Delivery for High-Value Items with New Express Dark Stores - Read Now

Zomato-owned Blinkit is making waves in the quick commerce space with a new high-value item category to be delivered within 30 minutes. Best known as the grocery delivery service that operates at a blurring pace of 10 minutes, Blinkit is now looking to pivot into an even bigger market with competition warming up.
The company is also conceptualizing "express dark stores," which are larger than normal mini warehouses and would be about 7,000 to 8,000 square feet. This will enable Blinkit to hold larger items such as instant water heaters, air purifiers, and jewelry. The better aim here is to lift the average order value for Blinkit as the current stands at ₹614, a number that is actually one of the highest for the sector.
Before rolling out the service by mid-FY26, Blinkit wants to compete more on a level playing field with such giants like Flipkart and Amazon. The diversification of the company's offerings could not be better timed, considering the evolution of the rapid delivery market and the choice consumers are making to access high-value products from anywhere, at any time.
Other industry players, including Tata's BigBasket, also follow the same models and seek associations with retailers for prompt delivery of high-value products. In the near future, the quick commerce sector will be at the forefront of tremendous growth with the leaders in Blinkit leading the movement.
Experts predict expansion to higher-value items will redefine quick commerce. Blinkit's initiative shows the companies are increasingly shifting from providing basic grocery services to an all-around product service. Rapid delivery will be increasingly at the forefront and will influence the competitive delivery businesses structure based on changes in consumer preferences.
With transformations taking place in Blinkit and others, even express dark stores for high value will also change the face of quick commerce in India.
