Many inspirational entrepreneurial stories emanate from some unforgettable partnerships. Among them is that of Sahil Jain and his mother, Meena Jain. Sahil Jain's father and son started Mighty Millets, a healthy food product startup. Their venture goes beyond just being nutritious but also something delectantly tasty too. What was initially a small venture has now bloomed into a business raking in ₹50 lakhs annually.
From Corporate Job to Entrepreneurial Dream
Sahil Jain is a former Chartered Accountant (CA), who worked in the corporate sector and was employed from 9 to 6. Sahil had an otherwise stable career; however, something was amiss, and he yearned for something more since there was no sense of purpose in it. Frustrated with the corporate grind, Sahil made the bold decision to quit his job to become an entrepreneur. However, this was not a one-man show; he joined forces with his mom, Meena, who was passionate about healthy cooking.
A Mother's Passion Sparks an Idea
Meena Jain had a natural flair for making healthy, nutrient-rich food at home. This talent enabled her to design healthy, palatable recipes that would suddenly add the spark in Sahil to engage in the business of food. Together they started developing millet food items, which was really nutritious and rich in nutritional values.
They first started making laddoos, vegetable chips, and other millet-based products, which were some of the small-scale products. It quickly gained momentum with people realizing the value of healthier alternatives to conventional snacks while investing in the startup.
Mighty Millets
From such modest beginnings, Mighty Millets has grown into a brand displaying over 50 different productsranging from nutrition bars, granola, millet cookies, among others. Such quality and nutritious products have also brought the brand major clients, ranging from Taj Group to JW Marriott hotels. These good relationships propelled the business into great heights and enabled them to earn a massive annual revenue of ₹50 lakhs.
What differentiates Mighty Millets from the other food options is the commitment towards healthy alternatives of traditional food products, not comprising on flavor. The mother-son duo proved that with the right mix of passion and strategy, even a small idea can become lucrative.
