Reclaiming his position on the top RIL chairman Mukesh Ambani is the richest Indian on Forbes list. India’s 10 richest billionaires were announced Tuesday.
Ambani has a net worth of 84.5 billion dollars. He was followed by Adani Group chief Gautam Adani. The third richest Indian is HCL founder Shiv Nadar.
Putting together these three richest Indians added just over 100 billion dollars, as per Forbes.
According to Forbes, the total number of Indian richest billionaires rose to 140 this year from 102 in 2020. Also, their combined wealth nearly doubled to 596 billion dollars.
Mukesh Ambani is also Asia’s richest person on the Forbes list. He has diversified his oil and gas empire. He has undertaken business in sectors such as telecom and retail. This diversification resulted in him retaining the top position.
Gautam Adani is an infrastructure tycoon. He got 42 billion dollars richer. This comes as shares of his companies Adani Enterprises and Adani Green Energy soar higher.
As per Forbes Adani’s wealth increased five-fold since 2020. This year there are two more additions in the top ten richest Indians on the Forbes list. They have made their spot due to investments in the healthcare sector. This sector witnessed a boost owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cyrus Poonawalla of the Serum Institute of India (SII) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries’ Dilip Shanghavi are the two additions.
