Ghaziabad to Kanpur Travel Time Cut by 2 Hours with New Expressway Connecting 9 Districts
A new expressway connecting Ghaziabad and Kanpur is set to reduce travel time between the two cities by two hours, enhancing connectivity across nine districts substantially. The 380-kilometer-long expressway, a part of India's rapid infrastructure development push, is expected to ease travel for Delhi-NCR passengers and boost industrial growth.
Important Features of the Expressway
Length and Design:
The expressway will cover 380 kilometers and have four lanes on the onset and later expanded to six to meet the demands of growing traffic. It will meet National Highway-9 at its northern end and the 62.7-kilometer Kanpur-Lucknow Expressway at its southern end.
Districts Covered:
It will connect nine districts: Ghaziabad, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Kasganj, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Unnao, and Kanpur, and relieve congestion and ease transportation bottlenecks.
Time Savings:
Currently, the journey from Ghaziabad to Kanpur takes around 7.5 hours. However, with the new expressway, the travel time will be reduced to just 5.5 hours.
Greenfield Project:
The expressway is a greenfield project that promotes environmental sustainability by increasing greenery along its route.
Completion Timeline:
The expressway is expected to be completed by 2026, and industrial centers are planned along its stretch to boost economic development.
Additional Infrastructure
The Uttar Pradesh government has also sanctioned a 112-kilometer Ganga Expressway, which will connect 96 villages and pass through major areas of Paryora Danda, Devgaon, and Raipura. The 'Green Highway' is slated to add more vigor to the region's infrastructure.
