ICICI Credit Card Rule Changes from Nov 15: Lounge Access, Fees, and Rewards Impact

From November 15, credit card holders of ICICI Bank will have to live with changed rules on lounge access, waiving of fuel surcharge, perks, and fees. Understandably, these changes affect everyday transactions as well as benefits for cardholders.

Important updates on the new ICICI Credit Card Rules from November 15.
Perhaps the most striking of these is applicable to complimentary airport lounge access. ICICI Bank credit cardholders will have to shell out ₹75,000 per quarter on their cards for them to get complimentary lounge access. The new threshold stands in stark contrast to the erstwhile requirement of only ₹35,000 quarterly spend for this benefit.

Fuel Surcharge Waiver Update
ICICI Bank has also overhauled the waiver policy on fuel surcharge. Most of its credit cardholders will find their fuel purchases exempt from charges amounting to up to ₹50,000 in a month. For an exclusive Emerald Mastercard Metal holder, it is ₹1 lakh per month.

Utility and Insurance Payments
The system for redemption of rewards points for utility and insurance payments now has change. Utility purchases, including insurance payments, will still get reward dollars up to ₹80,000 in a month. Other credit cards would continue to follow the standard eligibility of ₹40,000 per month. The outstanding grocery spends of premium cardholders would be eligible for reward dollars up to ₹40,000 in a month and up to ₹20,000 in case of other cardholders.

Additional Card Fees and Transaction Charges
An additional annual ICICI credit card will incur a fresh annual fee of ₹199, which will be levied to the statement of the card's anniversary month. Apart from that, each time any of the above customers pays utility bills or education charges on CRED, Paytm, or MobiKwik, say, there will be a 1% transaction charge levied upon the value of the transaction.

Spa Service Free Benefit End
The new benefits structure stated that ICICI Bank would then halt the spa services through the DreamFolks Card program.
