Stock Market Diwali 2024: As India is gearing up to celebrate Diwali 2024, investors may be inquisitive about whether the Indian stock market will remain closed on a trading holiday. Drik Panchang has announced that after the national celebrations of Dhanteras on October 29, Diwali 2024 will be celebrated on October 31. However, according to the official BSE list of stock market holidays for 2024, the trading holiday for Diwali is on November 1, 2024.

Diwali Stock Market Holiday: November 1, 2024

BSE and NSE will work as usual on 31st October, 2024. Though, they will celebrate Diwali Laxmi Pujan as a holiday on 1st November, 2024. So, this leaves out the fact that Diwali falls on October 31 for most Indians.

There are a total of two stock market holidays in November 2024 as well:

Diwali Laxmi Puja November 1, 2024
Guru Nanak Jayanti November 15, 2024
On November 1, the currency and derivatives segments, including the trading hours in the Commodity Derivatives Segment and Electronic Gold Receipts, will be shut down. These trades are closed between 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and reopened at 5:00 PM for the evening session. The equity segment remains closed the whole day.

In announcing 15 trading holidays on BSE for the entire year 2024, after Diwali (on November 1, the stock market will stay closed on November 15, on account of Guru Nanak Jayanti. And then it will once again close on December 25 on account of Christmas

The Indian stock market will be closed on Friday, November 1, Diwali 2024, instead of October 31. Traders and investors should make the necessary arrangements to check the official BSE list of stock market holidays to keep track of holidays throughout the year. November 1 is scheduled for a pause, so there is an opportunity for celebration of Diwali before the market reopens again.
