Parent company One97 Communications Ltd of Paytm has kick-started its festive initiative in this Diwali with colourful QR codes. Colourful QR codes are the efforts being made towards making merchants' shops and points of sale more colorful, resulting in a feel of festivals during one of India's biggest shopping seasons.

The Diwali-themed QR codes have been rolled out across 239 cities, including major hubs like Bengaluru, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Goa, and Kolkata. This is part of Paytm's overall strategy to encourage mobile payments among small businesses during the peak festive shopping period.

Recently, the company has also started adding new UPI users to its app as the NPCI approved this on October 22. Apart from festive QR codes, more users can be tapped into the Paytm app during Diwali.

Paytm is coming up with traditional Diwali motifs to warm the environment both for the sellers and the buyers. It can be set up as simple festive QR codes that persuade more businesses to come onto mobile payments and have an experience of personalized payments.

In a statement to the media, Paytm said it was very excited to be part of the merchants' and customers' celebration. "Diwali is time to celebrate, time for everybody, a festival of joys with families coming together to live through India," added a Paytm spokesperson. "Our Diwali QR codes add a festive feeling to each payment experience, truly symbolizing our commitment to empowering merchant partners and increasing engagement in using our services.

With the advent of the festive season, Paytm's Diwali-themed QR codes are all set to give a peculiar flavor to transactions and more memories to the users as well as merchants.
