Ration Card Rules Changing from January 1: Key Updates You Need to Know

All ration cardholders under the National Food Security Act will witness a paradigm shift from 1st January, 2025. More than 80 crore beneficiaries who receive either subsidized or free rations need to undergo the e-KYC procedure for the availed benefits.

Key Changes

Mandatory e-KYC: The government has extended the deadline for completion of e-KYC till December 31, 2024. Cardholders who fail to complete this process by the deadline will have their ration cards canceled from January 1, 2025.

Affected Groups: These changes are applicable to all states and all ration cardholders. Those who haven't yet completed the e-KYC process must act immediately.

How to Complete e-KYC

Visit your nearest Ration Depot: Submit an Aadhaar card and complete the process via POS machine to register fingerprint.

Mobile-based Process : All beneficiaries can get the e-KYC process done through the mobile.

The ministry appealed that all those ration cards eligible shall undergo the e-KYC so that such aspect does not cause a hindrance in receiving the benefits.
