Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and BP Monday announced the commencement of production from the block KG D6. It is situated off India’s eastern coast.
RIL, in a BSE filing said: “The Satellite Cluster is the second of the three developments to come onstream, following the start-up of R Cluster in December 2020. It had originally been scheduled to start production in mid-2021.”
Moreover, this field will produce gas from four reservoirs. It is also expected to reach gas production of up to 6 mmscmd, as per RIL.
The R Cluster and Satellite Cluster combined will contribute to about 20 per cent of India’s current gas production.
RIL’s activities include hydrocarbon exploration and production, petroleum refining and marketing, petrochemicals, retail and digital services.
On the other hand, BP remains one of the largest international energy companies in India.
Since Ambani’s Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) operates world’s biggest refining complex in western India. It has now begun supplying oxygen from Jamnagar to Maharashtra at no cost.
Maharashtra remains the worst-hit state by the COVID-19 outbreak. Currently, India is reeling under the second wave of coronavirus. The rising cases have led respective states to go for lockdowns and curfews once again.
