4.2 Lakh Sahara Depositors Repaid 362.91 Crore via Digital Refund Portal- Amit Shah

New Delhi: Cooperation Minister Amit Shah informed the Parliament on Wednesday that over 4.2 lakh depositors of Sahara Group's cooperative societies have been refunded ₹362.91 crore as of July 16 this year. This disbursement has been facilitated through the CRCS Sahara Refund Portal, established on March 29, 2023, following a Supreme Court order.
In a written response in the Rajya Sabha, Shah explained that the portal aims to assist depositors in reclaiming their funds. Currently, depositors are being reimbursed up to ₹10,000 after verification through an Aadhaar-linked bank account.
Shah elaborated that the portal ensures a transparent process for refunding money upon application verification and submission of deposit proof. The entire procedure is digital and paperless, overseen by former Supreme Court Justice R. Subhash Reddy and Amicus Curiae Gaurav Agrawal. This system has been designed to streamline and expedite the process of refunding depositors, ensuring they receive their due amounts efficiently and securely.
