Wipro has written to newly hired candidates who have been given Rs 6.5 lakh per year, asking if they would be able to work for Rs 3.5 lakh per year, at a time when the employment market is being affected by an increase in layoffs.
Wipro made the decision after experiencing difficulties integrating the class of 2022 graduates.
According to sources, candidates who are waiting to be hired and fall under the salary range of Rs 6.5 lakh per year received an email from Wipro management on February 16 asking them whether they would work for less money and instructing them to reply by February 20.
“We, like others in our sector, continue to evaluate global economies and client needs, which influence our employment decisions. We appreciate your dedication and patience as we work to find you a position. We now have project engineer roles available for hire with an annual salary of Rs 3.5 lakh. We would like to offer these positions to all of our velocity graduates in the FY2023 cohort “the email was read.
The email went on to say, “If you accept this offer, all previous offers will be null and void. We urge you to take advantage of this limited-time offer.”
According to sources, if a candidate chooses not to accept the lower-paying offer, he or she can keep the job.
